Navigating Business, Technology and Trust: V-Key at AIBP Malaysia 2025

JULY, 2025 – The AIBP Conference & Exhibition 2025 in Kuala Lumpur brought together decision-makers from across the financial services, enterprise, and technology sectors to examine how organizations are responding to rapid digitalization while balancing operational resilience, regulatory expectations, and sustainability. Held from 9–10 July, the event showcased leading perspectives on business transformation and the technologies underpinning ASEAN’s digital future.

On the first day, during the event’s fourth session, AI-Driven Cybersecurity for BFSI, the discussion explored AI’s dual role in financial cybersecurity, strengthening cyber resilience while also introducing new risks, such as AI-powered phishing attacks.

Kicking off the session, Yu Long Tang (Director of Secure Design, softScheck APAC) delivered a presentation on “AI Considerations when Designing for Cyber Resilience,” which set the stage for a panel discussion featuring V-Key’s CTO, Chiangkai Er, together with Dominic Yew (CISO, OCBC), and Meling Mudin (CISO, PayNet).

The panel addressed how AI is changing both sides of the cybersecurity equation. CK pointed out that attackers are now leveraging AI to defeat traditional security controls, using techniques such as
remote access via screen-sharing, malware operating in virtualized environments, and advanced app repackaging to mask malicious activity.

“Attackers are increasingly using AI to bypass traditional detection methods,” CK explained. “That’s why our approach at V-Key focuses on embedding protection directly within the app through a Virtual Secure Element that maintains trust, even if the device itself is compromised.”

He added that AI doesn’t replace deterministic security, but complements it by detecting behavioral anomalies, strengthening facial biometric onboarding with anti-tampering checks, and enabling smarter signal correlation to detect social engineering attacks. CK also emphasized the importance of AI-powered threat intelligence in tracking emerging fraud techniques and identifying attack patterns before they spread across regions.

But defending financial ecosystems goes beyond individual apps or banks. CK stressed the importance of cross-border threat intelligence and deeper vendor–regulator partnerships: “Attack methods often originate in one market and spread regionally. With collaborative AI-driven threat intelligence, we can preempt attacks before they land.”

V-Key’s presence extended across the exhibition, where delegates explored its flagship solutions: V-Key ID, a privacy-preserving digital identity platform that enables secure, passwordless authentication directly within the app, eliminating OTPs and reducing the risk of phishing and credential theft, and V-OS Mobile App Protection, a multi-layered runtime defense system that  protects mobile apps from reverse engineering, tampering, code injection, and malware even on rooted or jailbroken devices. Both solutions are built on V-Key’s patented Virtual Secure Element and are trusted by leading financial institutions to safeguard user identity, protect application integrity, and support compliance across ASEAN’s regulatory landscape.

Outside the main event, Peter Mah, V-Key’s SVP for Global Business, joined AIBP’s curated industry sessions. On 10 July, he participated in a pitching session to Tenaga Nasional Berhad, where he presented V-Key’s secure mobile authentication and threat protection technologies.

On 11 July, AIBP delegates visited Axiata/CelcomDigi, with Andy Tang from Tech Titan, V-Key’s local partner in Malaysia, joining the engagement to support deeper collaboration across sectors.

As AI continues to reshape the threat landscape, the discussions at AIBP Malaysia 2025 made it clear: robust mobile security, trustworthy AI systems, and ecosystem-wide intelligence sharing are no longer optional they are imperative for every financial institution navigating ASEAN’s digital future.
